We're delighted to share than over 70% of our Cramlington team have participated in a transformative autism and neurodiversity training session, facilitated by Rachael Leisk, from the wonderful North East Autism Society / Diversity North East. These sessions were attended by line managers, Health Advocates and anyone else who wanted to find out more. Each session was nothing short of eye-opening as we delved into topics ranging from understanding the right language to supporting more individuals and recognizing the ways that autism can affect individuals differently on a daily basis. Rachael's expertise and guidance have been invaluable, and we want to express our utmost gratitude for her role in making our working environment and space more neuro-inclusive.
Our team gained some incredible insights within the sessions such as:
π¬ Awareness around the importance of using appropriate language
πͺ Understanding how we can better support a broader spectrum of individuals
π Gaining insight into the diverse impact and prevalence of both autism and ADHD
π§ Deepening our understanding and empathy towards neurodiversity
π Recognising the immense potential to create a more accessible work environment for neurodivergent individuals
Inspired, engaged, and highly motivated, our team found the sessions to be not only incredibly inspiring but also an invaluable opportunity to expand our knowledge on people's needs. The interactive and engaging format, led skilfully by Rachael as a great speaker, successfully dismantled barriers and dispelled misconceptions about autism and neurodivergence. We are all now better equipped to support neurodivergent individuals within the working environment and beyond.
We are committed to continuous improvement and proudly pledge to continue working alongside the North East Autism Society to improve employment prospects for our team and neurodiverse individuals in our region. As part of our dedication to excellence and accessibility, we proudly subject ourselves to external audits against the esteemed Disability Confident and Investors in People standards. Together, we will create a future where inclusion is the norm, talents thrive, and every individual feels supported, valued and celebrated at work.
